Ready Dining Chair - Un-Upholstered

The Audo Copenhagen Ready Dining Chair in its all-wood version showcases the pure form-pressed design without upholstery, letting you appreciate the engineering and craftsmanship that went into creating those flowing curves. Designed by Matias Møllenbach and Nick Rasmussen, this cantilevered chair takes cues from classic free-swing designs where the seat and backrest appear suspended in mid-air - and without fabric covering them, you can actually see how the molded oak veneer achieves that visual lightness. Available in natural oak that highlights the wood grain, red-stained oak for warmth, or black-stained oak for drama, each finish is lacquered for durability while maintaining the wood's natural character. At 78cm high with a 48.3cm seat height, 47.4cm wide, and 50cm deep, it's perfectly proportioned for dining tables while the all-wood construction keeps it visually light and easy to move around when you're rearranging for dinner parties. What makes this all-wood version particularly useful is how it handles the realities of dining - spills wipe clean immediately without worrying about staining upholstery, and the smooth lacquered surface is genuinely low-maintenance compared to fabric chairs that need regular cleaning. The form-pressed curves provide surprising comfort even without cushioning because the seat and back flex slightly with your weight, creating that subtle give that makes longer dinners bearable. Stacks up to 10 chairs high, which is huge when you need to store extras or clear floor space, and the row-connecting feature lets you link chairs together for events or theater-style seating. The cantilevered design isn't just about aesthetics - it provides structural flex that makes sitting more comfortable than rigid four-legged chairs, and without front legs, it's easier to slide in and out from the table. Works beautifully in dining rooms obviously, but also in home offices, bedrooms as desk chairs, or anywhere you need seating that looks intentional without upholstery softening the lines. The FSC-certified oak veneer means it's sustainably sourced, and the lacquered finish protects against daily wear while letting the wood's depth and beauty show through. Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand that collaborates with contemporary designers like Matias Møllenbach and Nick Rasmussen who push material boundaries. Møllenbach, who graduated from Central Saint Martins and The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, established his studio in 2018 to work closely with skilled artisans creating timeless objects with distinct forms. Rasmussen trained as an architect at The Royal Danish Academy before completing his master's in furniture design, now running Luddo Studios from Copenhagen where he consults on product development and design projects globally. Their collaboration on the Ready Chair demonstrates Audo's commitment to designers who explore what's possible with form-pressing techniques and sustainable materials, resulting in furniture that's structurally innovative and visually compelling while maintaining environmental responsibility through FSC certification.
