Each book includes: 12 full-color Reading Pals with punch-out text frames designed to isolate letters, sounds, and words Multilevel activity pages Reproducibles of Reading Pals and suggesting activities. Please note: In the eBook version of this title, text frames will need to be hand cut. This book targets letter-recognition and sound awareness skills as the PreK to K level. The multilevel text pages support letter and sound recognition and sight word identification. The text moves gradually from single letters to phrases and sentences to increase children's ability to phrase or "chunk" text into meaningful units. The same picture is used throughout the activity pages to represent a letter's sound. Research supports that it is better to anchor letter recognition with one key pictures than to use multiple pictures in the initial alphabet introduction. This book includes both one-window and two-window text frames in the shape of delightful animal characters, which are used to reinforce concepts about print and to stress left-to-right and top-to-bottom reading practice. Each Reading Pal contains pop-out features, which form windows that allow children to confine their text view to one-or two-letter picture combinations, words, or sentence chunks at a time. This Reading Pal approach is supported by research indicating that the human brain embraces knowledge presented in novel ways. The 12 clever Reading Pals included in this book will stimulate young readers' desire to practice their newly learned skills in a fun way!
