'Rays For Days' False Sunflower (Heliopsis)

(False Sunflower) 'Rays for Days' Heliopsis is a striking perennial that brings vibrant, long-lasting color to the garden with its tall, zinnia-like blooms. Standing 24–26 inches tall and spreading 18–20 inches wide, this heliopsis features bright yellow flowers with multiple layers of petals, giving them a full, textured look reminiscent of zinnias. The flowers are supported by long, sturdy stems and contrasted beautifully by dark green foliage, creating a bold and eye-catching display. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–9, 'Rays for Days' thrives in full sun but can tolerate some light shade. It prefers average, well-drained soil and moderate watering. Deadheading spent blooms is recommended to prevent self-seeding and encourage an extended flowering period, which typically begins in mid-summer and continues into late summer. Native to North America, this heliopsis attracts beneficial bees and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for pollinator-friendly gardens. It is versatile in the landscape and works well as a border plant, mass planting, or striking specimen plant. 'Rays for Days' pairs beautifully with other sun-loving perennials like lavender, kniphofia, veronica, and sedum. Part of the Proven Winners® Perennial collection, it's a reliable and colorful addition to any garden.
