The stranded wire has a plastic insulation that is covered with a fine, tightly braided rayon fabric. It is made for low temperature, low wattage applications. It is not-intended for appliances. This thin fabric covered lamp wire is manufactured with strict safety standards however it is not UL approved. When wiring lamps it is best to use one strand of this fabric covered lamp wire and one strand of matching wire with tracer. This provides easy identification of wires. Before making any changes to electrical fixtures and/or lamps: Disconnect plug/wire from the electrical source. Turning lamp off will not protect you from electric shock. If you are unsure how to safely proceed contact a licensed electrician.
