Aria Nature's Raw Unsalted Pistachios (Shelled) - Parrot Treat & Training Reward - 3oz

About: Raw Unsalted Pistachios (Shelled) Offer your parrot a nutrient-rich, easy-to-portion reward with raw, unsalted shelled pistachios. Because they’re already shelled, pistachios are ideal for training sessions, bonding, and precise portion control, while still delivering valuable nutrients when used responsibly. From a nutrition science standpoint, pistachios provide plant-based protein, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, dietary fiber, and naturally occurring antioxidants (including carotenoids and tocopherols). They also contain important minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus, which support normal cellular, neuromuscular, and metabolic functions in birds when included as part of a balanced diet. Why shelled pistachios can fit into parrot care: High-value training treat: Palatable flavor and soft texture make pistachios motivating for positive reinforcement training. Healthy fats for energy: Supports active parrots when fed sparingly and balanced with lower-fat foods. Protein & fiber: Contribute to satiety and digestive support. Antioxidant compounds: Studied for their role in protecting cells from oxidative stress—an important consideration in avian health. Important bird-care note: Pistachios are calorie-dense. Avian veterinary nutrition literature consistently cautions that frequent feeding of high-fat nuts may contribute to obesity and fatty liver disease, especially in species predisposed to weight gain. Pistachios should be used strictly as an occasional treat, not a daily food. Ingredients 100% Raw, Unsalted Pistachios (Shelled) No salt, no roasting, no oils, no additives or preservatives. Feeding Instructions Use as a treat or training reward only, not as a complete diet. How to offer: Break pistachios into small, size-appropriate pieces to reduce choking risk and allow better portion control. Offer by hand during training, sprinkle a few pieces into a treat cup, or use sparingly in enrichment activities. Always ensure pistachios are fresh and free from mold, as spoiled nuts can be harmful to birds. Suggested treat portions: (Adjust based on species, size, activity level, and overall diet.) Small parrots (budgies, lovebirds, parrotlets): Tiny sliver-sized pieces, once or twice per week Medium parrots (cockatiels, conures, quakers): 1–2 small pieces, 1–2 times per week Large parrots (amazons, African greys, cockatoos, macaws): 2–4 small pieces, 2–3 times per week Reduce frequency if other nuts or high-fat treats are offered. Best practices: Keep all treats (including nuts) to a small percentage of total daily intake. Maintain a foundation diet of quality formulated pellets and fresh vegetables, consistent with avian nutrition research. Provide fresh water daily and store pistachios in a cool, dry, airtight container to preserve freshness.
