Transmissions were sent to Autocraft to be fixed because it was easier for a factory to keep up with the standards and innovations on certain brands of automobiles, instead of trying to make sure that 5,000 dealerships had the latest training and technology. Autocraft was acquired by Illinois-based Aftermarket Technology Corp. in 1997.
