Saturated splashes of variegated color! If you have a shade garden, you need a Rainbow's End Hosta (Hosta 'Rainbow's End') for your collection! This one is the focal point. Wide striations of shade - from creamy white to bright yellow, into acid green and into deep olive - this plant looks like it was painted by Picasso! Mis-summer brings lavender blooms on unique reddish stems (called scapes) that rise above the gorgeous foliage! These trumpet-shaped flowers attract their share of nectar-seeking bees, butterflies, and Hummingbirds to your garden! The leaves and blooms look fantastic in a floral bouquet as well! Also known as Plantain Lily, Rainbow's End is cold-hardy and heat-resistant throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9! Staying small and tidy, Hosta forms neat fountain-like mounds that are impressively easy to grow for even the most novice gardeners! Planting and Application: Perfect for shade or woodland gardens and even as a noteworthy "filler" in Containers. They make it easy to create a restful spot that fills bare ground and lights up the shade! Rainbow's End is one of the best small Hostas. Plant an odd number (3, 5, 7, 9, or more) in a wide zig-zag along the edge of a bed and make a real splash in your yard. Hostas are at home in shady, woodland settings and often work well as specimen or edging plants. Rainbow's End Hosta has to be high-maintenance, right? Absolutely not! Hostas are well-known as easy-care plants that grow with little care! These herbaceous Perennials are ideal for use in filtered or dappled part shade and in full shade, preferring morning sun, and afternoon shade. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. Add a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch to the soil surface, especially in dry shade conditions. Deadhead Hostas as soon as the flowers fade for a tidy look, and in fall when these herbaceous Perennials die back from the cold, it's time to prune the mound clean and remove the dead foliage. Divide your Hosta every 3-5 years to maintain vigor.
