Rainbow’s End® Alberta Spruce Tree

A Classic Spruce With Vibrant Yellow Ends Twice a Year The Rainbow’s End® Alberta Spruce is a fun, colorful twist on a classic evergreen. Discovered as a natural mutation at Iseli Nursery, this exceptional spruce bursts into color twice each year. Its spring growth emerges a bright lime green, followed by a second flush in midsummer that turns lemon-yellow. Rainbow’s End® transforms again when the season shifts, settling into a deep green foliage just in time for winter. With its perfect pyramidal shape and dense texture, it takes on the look of a living Christmas tree primed for stringing lights or decorating outdoors through the holidays. Its fragrant evergreen needles and changing color make it a standout all year long. Rainbow’s End® fits beautifully into small gardens, entryways, and patio containers. Its compact, upright habit lends structure and a splash of color to mixed borders, rock gardens, and formal designs. Plant alone as a statement piece or grouped in a conifer display. Whether it’s casting golden light in midsummer or decorated for the holidays in winter, this spruce adds year-round elegance to even the smallest spaces. Grow yours today!  Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and equal in depth to the root ball. Set the tree upright, backfill with soil, and water deeply. In warmer climates, plant in afternoon shade to prevent scorch. 2. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during establishment. Once rooted, Rainbow’s End® tolerates light drought, but performs best with consistent moisture. Water when the top two inches of soil feel dry. Avoid soggy conditions, which can cause root issues. 3. Fertilizing: Feed annually in early spring with a balanced, slow-release evergreen fertilizer to support healthy growth and vivid coloration. Avoid overfertilizing, which can promote weak, leggy growth. 4. Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed. Trim only to maintain shape or remove damaged branches after new growth hardens. Its dense, pyramidal form develops naturally without intervention.
