Benefits of Rabbit For Dogs: Rabbit is all white-meat which means even those couch-potato dogs won’t have to worry about their mid-lines, but it’s still full of nutrients for even the highest-energy dogs. Rabbit is higher in protein than chicken, turkey, veal, beef, duck, lamb, and pork which means it’s packed with lots of lean and mean fuel for your dog’s muscles, AND essential amino acids necessary for tissue repair AND help boost the immune system. Rabbit meat is lower in cholesterol than most other protein sources, containing minimum amounts of saturated fats. The healthy fats in rabbit meat will keep your dog’s joints lubricated and coat shiny. Vitamin B12! Rabbit meat, specifically the nutrient packed organs, is an excellent source of vitamin B12 which works to ensure that a dog's nervous system functions properly. It is also needed for normal cell growth. If your dog is acting sluggish, it may be because he is lacking some good ‘ol B12 as vitamin B12 helps maintain their energy level. Rabbit is a novel protein which means that your dog has either seldom or never been exposed to this type of food which is why it is a wonderful protein choice for dogs who’s tummies are either sensitive, or if they have a food allergy to other protein sources.  If your dog is seeming itchy, or has some GI issues, introducing a novel protein, like rabbit, into their diet can help “reset” their system and give their immune system a break from fighting off the proteins it may be reacting to. Top veterinary dermatology specialists highly recommend it!
