5DEV R-SPEC Shimano Steps EP8 eCrank

5DEV R-SPEC Shimano Steps EP8 eCrank arms are purpose-built for aggressive eMTB riding, where durability, clearance, and precise power delivery matter most. CNC-machined from billet aluminum in San Diego, California, these cranks bring the same design philosophy and machining quality found across the 5DEV lineup to Shimano’s EP8 and EP801 drive systems. The R-SPEC eCranks are offered in shorter lengths to reduce pedal strikes and improve control through technical terrain. Shorter crank arms help riders maintain momentum over rocks and roots, improve cadence in steep climbs, and keep pedals clear in tight trail sections—all without sacrificing stiffness or strength under high motor-assisted loads. Machined from 7075-T651 aluminum billet, the cranks deliver a rigid, confidence-inspiring feel while standing up to the repeated impacts and torque unique to modern eMTB riding. Designed specifically for Shimano Steps EP8 and EP801 spline interfaces, installation is straightforward when handled by an experienced eBike mechanic. 5DEV R-SPEC Shimano Steps EP8 eCrank Specs at a Glance Drive Compatibility: Shimano Steps EP8 and EP801 Available Lengths: 155 mm, 160 mm Q-Factor: 182 mm (when installed on Shimano EP8) Material: CNC-machined 7075-T651 aluminum billet Weight: 440 g Manufacturing: Machined in San Diego, California, USA Design Benefits Reduced Pedal Strikes: Shorter crank lengths improve clearance in rocky and technical terrain.
