Andrographis, an important ingredient in Ayurvedic traditions, has shown the ability to support normal functioning of the liver. Various parts of the Ceanothus plant were widely used by Native Americans as a bitter astringent tonic. The roots, specifically, are used to support certain organs, the lymphatic system and detoxification. Astragalus is a superior tonic for rebuilding depleted immune activity, supports liver function, and helps the body naturally adapt to physical and emotional stressors. Smilax comes from a type of climbing vine that grows in tropical forests. Experiments have shown it to support the liver and detoxification. Japanese Knotweed is a tenacious bamboo-like shrub native to Asia. It spreads easily from root fragments and is even considered an invasive pest in many areas. Several chemical compounds identified within Knotweed have shown potential health benefits. Polydatin can support normal cholesterol levels. Japanese Knotweed is also a source of resveratrol, an important antioxidant. The presence of polydatin and resveratrol in Knotweed extract make it helpful supporting the cardiovascular system as well as skin health.
