Quick Mill Rubino Plus

Overview The Quick Mill Rubino is a compact heat-exchanger espresso machine built for serious home baristas who need simultaneous brewing and steaming without a commercial footprint. At its core is a 1.8 liter insulated copper boiler paired with Quick Mill's E61-style brew group, delivering the workflow and thermal stability of a traditional HX platform in a chassis that measures just 26.5 by 45.2 by 35.8 centimeters. The machine includes Quick Mill's proprietary pulsor vibration pump technology for quieter operation, cool-touch steam wands, and a 3 liter water reservoir with automatic low-level protection. Controls remain deliberately simple with analog switches, a boiler pressure gauge, and indicator lights, making this a straightforward tool for anyone who values reliability and shot quality over digital interfaces. Heat Exchanger Boiler The Rubino uses a 1.8 liter copper heat exchanger boiler wrapped in insulation, a combination chosen for thermal efficiency and stability across back-to-back shots. Copper transfers heat quickly and evenly, while the insulation reduces energy waste and keeps the exterior case temperature manageable during extended use. The HX design allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously without waiting for the boiler to switch modes, a significant practical advantage when making multiple drinks. Because brew water passes through a thermosyphon loop inside the steam boiler rather than being drawn directly from it, you control final brew temperature through short cooling flushes at the group head before locking in the portafilter. Quick Mill Brew Group with Stainless Mushroom The brew group is Quick Mill's version of the E61 design, featuring a passive thermosyphon loop that continuously circulates hot water to maintain consistent group temperature. The shower screen assembly uses a stainless steel mushroom rather than brass, which resists corrosion and stays cleaner over years of backflushing and detergent cycles. This E61-style group provides familiar pre-infusion behavior as line pressure gradually builds during the first few seconds of the shot, gently saturating the puck before full extraction pressure arrives. The mechanical simplicity and thermal mass of the group contribute to shot-to-shot repeatability once the machine is fully heat soaked. Pulsor Vibration Pump for Noise Reduction Quick Mill equips the Rubino with a vibration pump fitted with its proprietary pulsor system, which smooths pressure pulses and reduces audible noise by approximately 30 percent compared to a standard vibratory pump. The pulsor acts as a hydraulic buffer, dampening the characteristic buzz that typically accompanies vibe pumps and producing a quieter, more muted hum during extraction. While you will still recognize this as a vibration pump platform rather than a rotary unit, the reduced noise profile makes the machine noticeably less intrusive in quiet kitchens or open living spaces. The pump delivers consistent line pressure for espresso extraction and drives the steam system with enough authority to texture milk quickly. Cool-Touch Multidirectional Steam Wands Both the steam and hot water wands are designed with cool-touch outer jackets and ball-joint articulation, allowing you to position them freely without burning your hands or needing a towel for adjustments. The cool-touch feature is practical during cleanup and workflow adjustments, especially when working quickly through multiple drinks. The wands deliver sufficient steam volume to texture milk for cappuccinos and lattes with proper technique, and the multidirectional mounting lets you swing them out of the way when not in use. Quick Mill pairs these wands with ergonomic lever-style valves that provide smooth, progressive control over steam and hot water flow. 3L Water Reservoir with Automatic Protection The internal reservoir holds three liters and includes a capacitive or magnetic sensor, depending on production batch and market, that monitors water level and automatically cuts power to the heating element when the tank runs low. This safety feature prevents dry-firing and protects the boiler from damage if you forget to refill. The tank is accessed by lifting the cup warming tray on top of the machine, making refills straightforward without moving the unit or accessing rear panels. Because the Rubino does not offer a plumb-in option, you are responsible for managing water quality through filtration or regular descaling, which directly impacts long-term reliability and taste. Compact Stainless Steel Chassis The body is constructed from stainless steel with clean panel gaps and a low profile that fits under standard kitchen cabinets while leaving counter space for a grinder. At 26.5 centimeters wide, 45.2 centimeters deep, and 35.8 centimeters tall, the Rubino occupies significantly less real estate than most heat exchanger machines without sacrificing internal boiler capacity or brew group performance. The machine weighs 19.5 kilograms, providing enough mass for stability during tamping and portafilter handling. Quick Mill offers the chassis in stainless steel or matte black finishes, and some dealers provide special editions with upgraded gauges or wood accents, though the factory specification includes a single boiler pressure gauge reading from zero to three bar. Analog Controls and Heat-Up Protocol The control layout is deliberately straightforward with a power switch, brew lever, steam and hot water valves, a boiler pressure gauge, and indicator lights for power and tank status. Once you establish a repeatable flush routine calibrated to your roast level and desired brew temperature, shot consistency becomes a matter of puck preparation rather than machine behavior.
