Quantum Cuia Yerba Mate Cup

A Wooden Interpretation of the Brazilian Cuia Our small team of woodcrafters in Jamaica make a special trip into the coastal forest and hand select the appropriate pieces of reclaimed wood to form these curvaceous beauties. Later, in our workshop, each piece is meticulously handspun on a lathe then finished with additional polishing for a silky smooth hand and natural matte finish. We then add a thin layer of organic coconut oil for an elegant patina and conditioning. Each piece takes much longer to produce than you may think, from the 50+ years of growth to the months of sun drying and the passion-infused hours spent shaping the block — these gourds represent a capsule of time and evolution. Fused with the spirit of Brazil, here’s our wooden interpretation of the traditional cuia.
