QIANKUN 乾坤 Indigo Qigong belt

ESSENCE - This unique handwoven piece is imbued with the spirit of indigo, designed to support the lower dantian, the body’s energetic center, during qigong and other movement practices. The pattern of the main fabric, which wraps and supports the waist, has been chosen with great care. Yarns hand-dyed with indigo and Chinese yam intertwine to form a motif that evokes the two essential trigrams of Chinese cosmology, QIÁN ☰ 乾 and KŪN ☷ 坤. QIÁN embodies the creative force of Heaven, a pure Yang energy that initiates movement and expansion. KŪN represents the receptive power of Earth, a pure Yin energy that receives, nourishes, and gives form. From their union arises the dynamic interplay that gives birth to the ten thousand beings. Held at the center of the body, this belt becomes a subtle axis between Heaven and Earth, supporting the circulation of Qi and anchoring the practitioner in both grounding and expansion. The tying cords are braided from cotton threads hand-spun by the Dong women, and the design is revealed through delicate hand embroidery.  STORY - The QIANKUN belt is crafted from a beautiful handwoven fabric, lovingly made by Wu Nainai, an elder artisan from the Dong indigenous community in Sanbao village, Guizhou Province, Southwest China. She is the beating heart of the DEYI textile cooperative and one of the last guardians of the temple of Sama in her village, the goddess of the Dong people. Wu Nainai is the kind of person one never forgets. Her vibrant smile, her kindness, and her wholehearted presence deeply move all who meet her. She shares her culture with sincerity and tenderness, carrying a living faith in Sama. She is also a highly skilled weaver. This indigo belt is created to support your Qigong practice with grace, carrying the spirit of indigo as a form of gentle medicine, together with the love, radiant energy, and wisdom of Wu Nainai and her people. From the cultivation of cotton to natural dyeing with medicinal plants, through weaving and final sewing, every step of this piece is carried out with the utmost care, preserving ancestral knowledge and honoring Mother Earth.
