Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a gram-negative, spiral-shaped bacterium native to the human gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It has an affinity for the acidic environment of the gastric mucosa. It’s estimated that up to 50% of the world’s population carries H. pylori in their GI tracts. H. pylori is spread through direct contact with individuals or household pets through saliva, feces, or contaminated food or water. Humanity’s relationship with H. pylori is ambiguous. H. pylori can have a commensal or symbiotic relationship with its human host. H. pylori is difficult to eradicate. It clings to the intestinal lining. It also uses an enzyme to produce ammonia, which creates a friendly environment in which it can thrive. Powerful gut-disrupting practices or practices that reduce stomach acid are often used to combat H. pylori, yet they can produce unwanted effects. Plus, using such approaches increases the risk of bacterial resistance. PyloGuard™ represents a groundbreaking and novel approach to supporting digestive health. The main ingredient in PyloGuard™ is Lactobacillus reuteri DSM17648. In a study comparing over 700 species of Lactobacillus, the DSM17648 strain was found to support sticking to, aggregating, and facilitating the excretion of various H. pylori species. PyloGuard™ is a postbiotic that contains only inactivated organisms that do not disrupt other commensal gut flora. The revolutionary development of this novel postbiotic product, which works WITH the microbiome instead of against it, can't be overstated. Plus, PyloGuard™ pairs perfectly with other products in the Microbiome Labs product portfolio, such as MegaGuard™ and MegaSporeBiotic™ (certain types of Bacillus probiotics are known to provide support in maintaining healthy H. pylori levels).
