Victorian Stagecoach Musical Mechanical Kit

Victorian Stagecoach Music Box in Wood This wooden model kit builds a 19th century stagecoach that works as a mechanical music box. Winding the spring drives the movement, which plays Greensleeves while the carriage rolls forward on its own wheels rather than sitting still on a base. What the Stagecoach Music Box Does Spring wound movement: a clockwork barrel drives both the melody and the drive wheel, so the carriage needs no batteries or power lead Greensleeves melody: the comb and cylinder play the full traditional tune on one full wind of the key Rolling wheels and opening doors: the front axle steers, all four wheels turn and the cabin doors swing open on the assembled model Squirrel driver figure: a small carved passenger rides the box seat, which is the detail that gives the carriage its character on a shelf Glue free joinery: mortise and tenon slots hold the frame together, so the build needs the included tools and nothing else Specifications Assembled size: 21.8 x 11.2 x 14.6 cm (8.6 x 4.4 x 5.7 inches) Material: laser cut wood Movement: spring wound mechanical music box, no batteries Melody: Greensleeves Assembly: mortise and tenon joinery, no glue required Assembly time: about 4 to 6 hours Difficulty: intermediate Recommended age: 14 and up Included: laser cut wooden parts, illustrated manual, assembly tools Gear wax is not included, candle wax or beeswax works as a substitute Victorian Decor and a Gift for Music Box Collectors The build takes an evening or two and runs on numbered laser cut sheets, so it sits between a quick wooden puzzle and a full mechanical engine model in effort. The gearing under the floor is the section worth slowing down on, since that is what couples the music cylinder to the wheels. Assembled, the stagecoach reads as vintage transport decor on a study desk, a mantelpiece or a bookshelf beside other Victorian and steampunk pieces. It is a regular birthday and Christmas gift for music box collectors, history readers, carriage and coaching enthusiasts, and adults who build wooden mechanical kits.
