Put Down What you are Carrying

This painting is about the moment you choose to stop following the crowd and begin listening to your own inner voice. As a child, you moved through life with wonder and a deep sense of who you are. But over time, you began to carry expectations, fears, and the need for approval—losing yourself in comparison and the pressure to fit in. The backpack in this piece represents the weight of the world we carry. Inside are the symbols of our individual burdens—fear of judgment, past wounds, limiting beliefs, and the stories we’ve been told about who we should be. Each one adds weight, pulling you further from your truth. At some point, you are given a choice: continue carrying it all… or begin to set it down. To release the fear. The expectations. The need to be accepted. The figure stepping into the light represents your courage to let go of what no longer belongs to you and walk forward guided by your own truth. The child is the part of you that never forgot. This is the moment you put down what you are carrying… and return to yourself.
