Pursued by Bear 'Bear Cub' Red Blend, 2019, Columbia Valley, Washington State

The 2019 Bear Cub is a fresh, youthful wine bursting with ripe, sun-kissed summer berries and a hint of baking spice. Richly textured, layers of dark cherry, juicy boysenberry, and roasted coffee dance across a balanced mid-palate. Lively and easy drinking but with enough structure to prove this little fella can go the distance Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Syrah  PRESS: 93 Points, Wine Enthusiast This is no “baby”: This bold, rich Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend has grown-up elegance, from its aromas of dewberries, dark raspberries, saline and rose petals, to its Mikhail Baryshnikov-like balance. In between, look for flavors of blackberry fruit jellies, thyme and dark chocolate. 90 Points, Jeb Dunnuck The entry level wine from this estate is the 2019 Bear Cub Red Wine, which is based on 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah. Exhibiting a medium ruby/purple hue as well as attractive notes of red and black currants, Asian spices, and dried herbs, it's medium-bodied and has some chocolaty oak, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a delicious, outstanding wine to drink over the coming 4-6 years, if not longer. Actor and Yakima native Kyle MacLachlan launched his wine project "Pursued by Bear" with Eric Dunham beginning with the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2008, he added the "Baby Bear" Syrah to celebrate the birth of his son. These extremely limited production wines are available in select locations.
