Mini Aurora Pine Needle Basket, Guatemala

This beautiful little fair trade basket is designed and handcrafted by Maya women in a fair trade cooperative in Guatemala.  It consists of sustainably harvested native grass and fragrant pine needles with colorful yarn accents.  This little treasure can be used to hold small trinkets such as keys, jewelry, coins, etc., or leave it empty for display.  It will bring the fresh smell of natural grasses into your home. Wild grass, pine needles, raffia, and cotton yarn 5" diameter x 2" high ABOUT THE ARTISANS The women who handcraft our pine needle baskets go out together, often to quite distant places, to collect the longest pine needles they can find and then stitch them together with raffia and native grasses. Working with fair trade, the women earn regular income, allowing them to feed their families, send their children to school and harbor hopes for a better future.
