Purity Evergreen Candytuft

Purity Evergreen Candytuft (Iberis sempervirens 'Purity')Purity Evergreen Candytuft is a low, evergreen groundcover that turns into a blanket of bright white flowers in spring. It gives you a clean, finished edge along paths and borders, and it holds its dark green foliage year-round in many climates. The mounding, spreading habit fills gaps without looking messy, so beds look more intentional with less effort. If you want spring impact and season-long structure in a small footprint, this plant is a reliable choice. Distinctive FeaturesIn mid spring through early summer, dense clusters of small, four-petaled white flowers cover the plant so heavily that the foliage can be nearly hidden. The leaves are narrow, glossy, and deep green, forming a tight mound that spills slightly as it spreads. Because it is evergreen to semi-evergreen depending on winter conditions, it provides a steady, structured ground layer beyond bloom season. Light shearing after flowering can help keep the plant compact and may encourage additional bloom. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun to partial shade, with the strongest flowering in full sun. Soil: Well-drained soil, including sandy or average garden soils, and avoid waterlogged conditions. Water: Low to moderate, water to establish, then water occasionally during extended dry spells. USDA Zones: USDA Zones 3 to 9. Mature Size: About 6 to 12 inches tall and 12 to 24 inches wide. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use as a focal point by planting a concentrated drift where the spring white bloom can read as a bright, intentional highlight. Border Edging: Line sunny borders and walkways for a crisp, evergreen edge that blooms hard in spring. Groundcover: Mass on slopes and open beds to knit soil together with a low, mounded habit. Rock Gardens: Tuck into well-drained rock pockets and gravel beds where it stays tight and tidy. Wall and Ledge Planting: Plant along walls and raised beds where the mound can soften edges and lightly trail. Low Maintenance Care Shearing: Shear lightly after flowering to keep plants compact and reduce woodiness over time. Watering: Water during the first season for establishment, then reduce supplemental watering once rooted in. Drainage: Improve drainage in heavy soils to reduce crown rot risk and winter stress. Cleanup: Remove winter-browned tips in early spring to refresh the mound before bloom. Spacing: Space for airflow so foliage dries well and the plant keeps a healthier center. Why Choose Purity Evergreen Candytuft? Spring Flower Blanket: White flower clusters create a bright, high-impact display in spring.
