The beauty of this blend is that nearly every ingredient has a long history of success. It appears the ancients seemed to be quite adept in their knowledge of herbs and oils. Basil, for example, has been used since the time of the Ancient Greeks as a means to detect witchcraft and continues to be used in many cultures as a fumigation herb which is reputed to rid the environment of negative entities. Cedarwood also had many ancient uses. It was revered by the ancient Egyptians and was used to build King Solomon’s temple. It continues to be sacred to the Native Americans as is considered to be one of their most sacred trees. Juniper was used both for embalming as well as for incense for purification by the ancient Egyptians. In other cultures, it was used to rid the environment of negative spirits and unwanted energy. Rosemary, like basil, has had numerous uses and is rich in folklore. It was a popular herb for love and commitment but it was also used during the middle ages in homes and sick rooms for purification. It remains an effective anti-bacterial and is often found in organic-based cosmetics. Lemon also dates back to the ancient Egyptians and historically has been used as a disinfectant, anti-bacterial, and a remedy for many ailments. It is believed to be very effective at helping to cleanse the emotions.  Finally, orange has long been associated with love, harmony, and happiness. In aromatherapy, it is believed to aid in creativity, positive thinking, and feelings of well-being.
