Plant in well drained soil and water regularly during the first few seasons so it can establish a deep, resilient root system. A wide mulch ring helps protect the roots and keep moisture steady, but keep mulch pulled back from the trunk. Prune lightly in late winter while the tree is young to encourage a strong central leader and balanced branching. Pair this maple with ornamental grasses, hydrangeas, and evergreen shrubs to create a four season scene, then let Pumpkin Spice steal the show every autumn.
