PTFe Membranes

DSI PTFE membranes are used in oral surgery, particularly in procedures like guided bone regeneration (GBR) or guided tissue regeneration (GTR). PTFE stands for polytetrafluoroethylene, which is a synthetic polymer material commonly known by the brand name Teflon. DSI PTFE membranes are thin sheets or barriers that are placed over areas where bone or tissue regeneration is desired. These membranes serve several purposes: They act as a physical barrier, preventing soft tissue infiltration into the area where bone regeneration is intended. By keeping soft tissue away from the healing area, PTFE membranes help maintain space for new bone or tissue to grow. They protect the site from mechanical trauma, bacterial contamination, and epithelial cell migration, which could hinder regeneration. The membrane helps guide the growth of new bone or tissue in a specific direction, enhancing the predictability of the regenerative process. DSI PTFE membranes are biocompatible, chemically inert, and non-resorbable, they facilitate successful bone and tissue regeneration in various oral surgical procedures. Indications: Guided bone regeneration (GBR) Guided tissue regeneration (GTR) Socket preservation Sinus lift surgery Ridge Augmentation Furcation defect repair The barrier to periodontal surgery Features & Benefits: Biocompatibility - PTFE membranes are well-tolerated by the body, reducing the risk of adverse reactions or inflammation at the surgical site Chemically inert - meaning it does not react with biological tissues or fluids, reducing tissue irritation or inflammation Excellent mechanical strength and stability - allowing them to maintain their shape and integrity during the healing process Ease of Handling - these membranes are thin and flexible, making them easy for clinicians to handle and manipulate during surgery. This facilitates precise placement and adaptation to the contours of the surgical site. Barrier function - provides an effective barrier against soft tissue ingrowth into the healing area, crucial for promoting bone or tissue regeneration Guidance of tissue growth - PTFE membranes can help guide the direction of tissue growth, enhancing the predictability of the regenerative process Versatility - they can be used in a variety of dental procedures, including GBR, GTR, socket preservation, sinus augmentation, and more Additional features and benefits of titanium-reinforced PTFE membranes: The titanium reinforcement enhances the mechanical strength and stability of the membrane. It helps maintain the barrier's integrity and reduces the risk of membrane collapse or deformation The titanium reinforcement provides additional rigidity to the membrane, making it easier for clinicians to handle and manipulate during surgery The increased rigidity of titanium-reinforced PTFE membranes helps maintain space for new bone or tissue growth more effectively Titanium-reinforced PTFE membranes offer enhanced long-term stability, ensuring that the barrier remains intact throughout the healing process Titanium-reinforced PTFE membranes are radiopaque Technical Information: Material: PTFE and Titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V grade 23 ELI for reinforced membranes Thickness: 0.25mm Pore diameter: less than 0.3μm Size: 20x25mm / 25x30mm / 30x40mm (for selection) Package includes 1 PTFE membrane for selection
