Paul Reed Smith S2 Vela Black Limba 2026 Limited Edition - Only 200 Made

The PRS S2 Vela Limited Black Limba is a distinctive, limited-edition PRS that combines an offset body design with premium tonewoods, a highly versatile pickup configuration, and the comfortable playability PRS is known for. With its striking Black Limba body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and unique combination of a DS-01 bridge humbucker and Narrowfield neck pickup, this Vela offers a broad tonal palette while retaining a character all its own. The Vela was designed to be a different kind of PRS. Its offset silhouette gives it a more contemporary, slightly vintage-inspired aesthetic, while the electronics and hardware provide plenty of flexibility for everything from clean, articulate passages to aggressive overdriven tones. FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS Limited-Edition S2 Vela: A special-edition version of the S2 Vela featuring a distinctive Black Limba body. The Vela's offset design sets it apart from the more traditional PRS double-cut shapes and gives the instrument a unique visual identity. Black Limba Body: Black Limba is prized for its attractive natural figuring and balanced tonal character. The wood contributes to the Vela's warm, resonant response while helping create a guitar that has plenty of acoustic character and sustain. Offset Vela Body Shape: The Vela's offset body is comfortable against the player and gives the guitar a unique look compared with conventional PRS designs. Its sculpted construction makes it comfortable to play both standing and seated. 25" Scale Length: PRS's 25-inch scale sits between the traditional Gibson and Fender scale lengths, offering a comfortable balance of string tension, playability, and note definition. 22 Frets: The 22-fret layout provides plenty of range while retaining the classic neck-to-body relationship associated with the Vela. 10" Fingerboard Radius: The 10-inch radius offers a comfortable compromise between traditional fretting-hand feel and the flatter geometry favored for modern bending, lead playing, and chord work. Pattern Regular Neck Shape: The Pattern Regular carve provides a comfortable, familiar neck profile with enough substance for players who prefer a traditional PRS feel without an overly thin neck. PRS DS-01 Bridge Humbucker: The DS-01 bridge pickup provides the Vela with its primary high-output voice. It delivers punchy attack, strong mids, and plenty of clarity, making it well suited for everything from crunchy rhythm sounds to heavier overdrive and distortion. PRS Narrowfield Neck Pickup: The Narrowfield pickup gives the neck position a distinctly articulate, clear voice while retaining the noise-resistant characteristics of a humbucker. It offers a tighter and more focused alternative to a traditional full-size neck humbucker. Versatile Pickup Combination: The DS-01 bridge humbucker and Narrowfield neck pickup create a particularly flexible combination. The bridge position delivers authority and punch, while the neck position provides warmth and articulation. The middle position blends the two for additional tonal options. Push/Pull Coil Split: The tone control features a push/pull function that splits the DS-01 bridge humbucker, allowing you to access a brighter, more single-coil-like voice. This adds another useful tonal option for cleaner passages, funk, indie, pop, and rhythm work. 3-Way Pickup Selector: The three-way switch provides quick access to the bridge, middle, and neck pickup positions, making it easy to move between contrasting sounds during a performance. PRS Plate-Style Bridge: The Vela's distinctive plate-style bridge is designed for solid contact with the body and dependable tuning stability. Its straightforward design also contributes to the guitar's strong attack and sustain. Brass Saddles: Brass saddles add a touch of warmth and resonance to the bridge system while providing reliable string contact and precise intonation adjustment. PRS Phase III Tuners: PRS Phase III tuners provide smooth, precise tuning adjustments and help keep the guitar stable during playing. Nickel Hardware: The nickel hardware complements the natural Black Limba aesthetic and gives the guitar a classic, understated appearance. Lightweight: At only 6.3 pounds, this Vela offers a very comfortable weight for extended rehearsals, recording sessions, and live performances without feeling excessively heavy. TONE & PLAYABILITY The S2 Vela's greatest strength is its versatility. The DS-01 bridge humbucker provides a muscular, focused sound with enough clarity to keep individual notes defined under gain. Roll back the volume and it can clean up nicely, making it useful for dynamic rhythm playing as well as lead work. Switch to the Narrowfield neck pickup and the guitar takes on a more open, articulate character. It works particularly well for clean tones, blues, ambient textures, arpeggios, and lead playing where clarity and note separation are important. The push/pull coil split expands the Vela's range even further, giving the bridge pickup a leaner, brighter character that works especially well for clean and lightly driven tones. The combination of a 25" scale, 10" radius, 22 frets, and Pattern Regular neck creates a comfortable platform for both chordal playing and lead work. The Vela feels familiar to players coming from a variety of traditional electric-guitar designs while still retaining the distinctive PRS character.
