PRP Replacement Sternum Strap – Off-Road Harness | 1" & 2" | PRP Seats The PRP Replacement Sternum Strap is a small but critical harness component that keeps your shoulder belts properly aligned across your chest during aggressive off-road riding. Compatible with most PRP and comparable 4-point and 5-point off-road harnesses, this strap holds both shoulder straps together under tension to prevent separation during impacts — while a breakaway safety design releases when force exceeds a safe threshold to prevent chest injury. Frequently Asked Questions Which width sternum strap do I need? Select the width that matches your harness shoulder belt size. PRP 2-inch harnesses (like the 4.2 and 5.2) use the 1" sternum strap. PRP 3-inch harnesses (like the 4.3, 5.3, 5.3 Custom, and 5.3x2) use the 2" sternum strap. When in doubt, check your harness model's belt width. Is the sternum strap required on my harness? It's not required but strongly recommended. The sternum strap prevents shoulder belts from spreading apart during rough riding and impacts, keeping the harness properly positioned across your body for maximum effectiveness. What does breakaway safety mean? The breakaway design means the sternum strap is engineered to release when extreme force is applied — such as in a severe crash — to prevent the strap from concentrating impact force on your sternum. It holds securely in normal riding conditions but releases when needed most. Will this fit non-PRP harnesses? Yes — the PRP Sternum Strap has universal fitment and is compatible with most standard off-road 4-point and 5-point harnesses from PRP and other brands. Is this a direct replacement for the sternum strap that came with my PRP harness? Yes — this is the OEM PRP replacement sternum strap. Select the correct width to match your harness and it will install identically to the original.
