Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between the PRP 5.3 and the PRP 5.3 Custom? Both are SFI 16.1 certified 5-point harnesses with identical belt specs. The 5.3 Custom adds removable thick shoulder pads for HANS/neck restraint compatibility, and modular hardware that can be configured as bolt-in or clip-in. The standard 5.3 has set color options; the Custom is designed for riders who need neck restraint device compatibility. Is the PRP 5.3 Custom compatible with a HANS device? Yes — removing the thick shoulder pads provides the clearance needed for proper HANS device fitment. This makes the 5.3 Custom the correct choice for sanctioned racing events that require both an SFI harness and a neck restraint device. Can I swap the bolt-in hardware for clip-in hardware? Yes — the modular bolt-in tabs on the shoulder and lap belts can be swapped for clip-in hardware, giving you additional installation flexibility for different roll cage configurations. How often does this harness need to be replaced? Per SFI requirements, replace the harness after any impact event or two years from the date on the SFI certification tag, whichever comes first. Does the PRP 5.3 Custom come in different colors? The standard 5.3 Custom is available in Black.
