One of the reasons to choose this shrub is its remarkable adaptability combined with ornamental charm. Beyond its stunning appearance, the Gatsby Gal offers low maintenance requirements, allowing you to enjoy its beauty without excessive effort. Whether used as a focal point or planted alongside other perennials, this remarkable shrub’s aesthetic appeal and practicality make it an ideal companion in any landscape. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with well-draining soil and partial to full sunlight for optimal growth. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Place the shrub in the hole, backfill with soil, and gently tamp down. Water thoroughly after planting to establish roots. 2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season. Once established, the Gatsby Gal shrub is relatively drought-tolerant, but regular watering will promote lush foliage and abundant blooms. Water deeply whenever the top few inches of soil feel dry. 3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to remove any dead or damaged branches and to maintain a tidy shape. Light pruning can also encourage denser growth and more prolific flowering. Avoid heavy cuts, as this shrub blooms on old wood. 4. Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth begins. This will provide essential nutrients needed for vibrant flowers. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive foliage at the expense of blooms.
