Prototype DeKalb AgResearch Corn Thermometer

c. 1980s; DeKalb AgResearch, Inc. - DeKalb, Illinois Unique prototype promotional thermometer produced for DeKalb AgResearch. Designed in the shape of an ear of corn, the piece features DeKalb branding, a working Fahrenheit thermometer, and a blank imprint panel intended for dealer customization. According to accompanying provenance, this design never entered production and remained at the prototype stage, making it a rare survivor from DeKalb's promotional product development efforts. The unusual form and apparent one-off nature distinguish it from standard advertising giveaways produced by the company. This example remains sealed in its original packaging and appears to be old new stock. The thermometer and graphics remain well preserved, and the imprint panel is blank as issued. Packaging exhibits wrinkles and light wear from storage.
