Mother Goose

This enchanting British pantomime poster captures the magic of Mother Goose, one of the most beloved subjects in the Christmas theatrical tradition. Against a deep midnight blue sky scattered with stars, the titular character rides her magnificent white goose through the night, broom in hand and red scarf streaming behind her. A jolly Man in the Moon beams down on the scene while a peaceful snow-covered village sleeps below. Produced by Taylors Printers of Wombwell, Yorkshire, this large-format theatrical poster exemplifies the vibrant stock designs that advertised pantomime productions across provincial Britain during the interwar years. The bold yellow and red dimensional lettering was designed for maximum impact on theater façades, while the whimsical illustration promised audiences the fantastical entertainment that pantomime delivered. A wonderful piece of British theatrical history that brings warmth and nostalgia to any collection. The imagery transcends its commercial origins to become a genuine piece of folk art celebrating the enduring appeal of nursery rhyme traditions. Size: 85" x 41"
