Problem Solving - How To Build Resilience

Problem-solving is the ability to come up with potential solutions to problems. It’s a resilience building skill that supports clients in managing both everyday issues and bigger challenges. Research shows that it is particularly therapeutic for young people with emotional problems as it helps them develop a hopeful mindset. The Problem-Solving handout teaches clients how to use problem-solving as a tool to build resilience. It breaks down the concept into 4 sections with specific steps they can take. These include taking small actions to create momentum and getting different perspectives. Kids and teens who learn problem-solving skills can stay calm under stress and bounce back from setbacks. One helpful tip when using the handout with them is to talk through your own challenges out loud to show how you apply problem-solving in daily life. Whenever they try solutions, encourage them to reflect on what worked well and what they can do differently next time. This helps normalize trial and error as part of learning. *This item is an instant digital download. A link to download your files will be emailed to you once payment is confirmed.
