Pro-Vet Patient Care Staff Training SOP - Veterinary Clinic Laundry Reduction & Workflow System

The training doc your team actually uses Most veterinary clinics buy the equipment and skip the training. Then the team improvises, the laundry reduction never lands, and six months later the new gear is just sitting next to a pile of donated cotton towels. The Pro-Vet Staff Training SOP is the fix. It's the same 11-section reference document that ships with every Contingenci® Pro-Vet Patient Care & Laundry Reduction Kit — now available as a standalone purchase for clinics that want the playbook before (or alongside) the gear. What's inside 1. Why this matters — warmth, recovery, and the laundry math that makes practice managers say yes. 2. What's in your kit — every product, every size, mapped to the cages and rooms it lives in. 3. Textile science — why Pro-Vet brushed fleece outperforms donated French Terry cotton (with peer-reviewed citations). 4. Product-by-product use & care — daily workflow, photo-style references, the laundry tip per SKU. 5. The 60% laundry reduction protocol — exact wash, dry, and segregation rules. 6. The Pro-Vet brushing ritual — the one-minute habit that doubles fleece life and keeps lint out of dryer vents. 7. Role guide — vet techs, assistants, DVMs, practice managers: who owns what. 8. Front-desk reference card — three client-facing answers, three quick escalations. 9. Staff FAQ — the questions every team asks in week one, answered in plain English. 10. Wishlist for future add-ons — how clinic feedback becomes the next product release. 11. Questions, swaps, and warranty contact. Why the SOP is the difference You can buy the cushions, the fleece covers, the Air Hugger, and the anti-slip mats from anyone. The reason Pro-Vet clinics actually hit a 60% laundry reduction in 60–90 days is that every team member follows the same playbook from day one. This SOP is that playbook. Built from real RVT workflows "I'm personally a big fan of it because I need stuff that works, and I don't like to stress with things that are not going to function properly — which makes our job easier and the patient's life easier." — Alec, RVT (10 years), Beach Animal Urgent Care The textile science your DVM will ask about Section 3 is the section you hand to a skeptical doctor. The five talking points alone close most internal debates: 1. Fur problem = construction problem. Not a washing problem, not a detergent problem. 2. Cut fiber tips release hair; looped French Terry cotton traps it. 3. The infection-control angle. A 2016 peer-reviewed study (Moriello, J Feline Med Surg) found 65% of cotton terry towels remained culture-positive for Microsporum canis after one hot wash. 4. The risk-manager angle. NFPA documents roughly 16,000 dryer fires annually, with cotton lint as the leading ignition source. 5. Material origin. Pro-Vet fleece is the same Polartec-grade fabric as The North Face Denali jacket — first-quality deadstock, not seconds, not remnants. The 60% laundry reduction — explained The protocol is short and repeatable: Swap covers, not cushions. One reversible fleece cover changes between patients; the cushion underneath stays put. Separate Pro-Vet from cotton in the dryer. Mixing cotton into a fleece load doubles the dry time and defeats the entire kit. Brush before the wash on heavy shedders. One pass with the included metal brush keeps fur out of your drain pump. Dry medium, not high. Pro-Vet fleece is dry in 10–15 minutes — over-drying just pills the surface. No bleach. No fabric softener. Use Rescue™ or your hospital disinfectant of choice on the waterproof layer. Clinics using Pro-Vet regularly cut laundry by ~60% in 60–90 days. Four Pro-Vet blankets dry in roughly the time of one cotton load. One cushion + covers + a bolster + a quick-dry blanket replaces 5–8 cotton towels per patient stay. One system, three roles The role guide is what turns the SOP from "another binder" into a daily habit. Each role gets a single column of bullets they can act on without re-reading the doc: Vet techs — set up the 3-layer cage stack, swap fleece covers, launder Pro-Vet separately, brush before wash on heavy shedders. Vet assistants — wipe waterproof covers between patients, keep the Pro-Vet bin stocked, deploy the Air Hugger. DVMs — Air Hugger on any post-op hypothermia risk, Pro-Vet mats for dentals and imaging, hold the line on no bleach / no cotton mixing. Practice managers — own the wishlist sheet and the quarterly reorder, track the laundry-cost baseline at 30 / 60 / 90 days, route warranty issues to Contingenci®. Front desk — three client-facing answers (what are the cushions? is the fabric safe? why no donated towels?) and three quick escalations to the practice manager.
