Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital

Pre Box S2 Digital Digital micro preamplifier with MQA and DSD512 support Pre Box S2 Digital - a performance revolution in a small package! Pre Box S2 Digital marks a new era for our S-series components, for the very first time we are using a dual mono configuration with the highest class D/A converters of ESS Sabre, their flagship DAC chip ensures highest class audio in a small and affordable pack- age. This DAC is capable of high resolution audio up to 32bit 768kHz PCM and DSD512! Pre Box S2 Digital is also the very first of our devices to support hardware MQA unfolding. It’s also the premiere of our proprietary Optimu transient digital filter and our proprietary clock circuitry design. Digital audio is the art of time, with our new proprietary clock design we have managed jitter rates of unrivalled 100 Femtoseconds, this easily outperforms many renowned and respected audiophile clock generators! With organic polymer capacitors and thin film miniMELF resistors we were able to create a tiny device that will blow away even much bigger components for a much higher price. With a total of seven digital filters the sound can be shaped precisely to the listeners liking. Pre Box S2 Digital is fully remoteable, it can also control the playback software of a computer. You can use Play, Pause, Forward and Rewind straight with your Pre Box S2 Digital!     Features Dual mono construction High end ESS Sabre ESS9038 dual DAC Proprietary clock circuity design Organic polymer capacitors and thin film mini MELF resistors MQA hardware decoding DSD64, DSD128, DSD256 & DSD512 (DSD over PCM) Up to 24bit/192kHz for optical & coax inputs 7 selectable digital filter characteristics 1 proprietary optimum transient digital filter Headphone output on the front (6.3mm) Synchronization of all internal oscillators Jitter as low as 100 Femtoseconds! Add its compact size into the equation and in some circumstances it could prove ideal. " - What Hi-Fi?    Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital DAC/Preamplifier - Read More "Perhaps the best way to view the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 (and most of the components in the Pro-Ject S2 line) is to consider it a sonic building block or Lego. You can acquire Pro-Ject components to do exactly what you need, no more and no less. The Pre Box S2 Digital can be the beginning piece in a system that can grow and change as you do. While not quite bespoke audio, the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 is one small part of an elegant system that gives even audiophiles with limited means a way to assemble a first-class audio system tailored specifically to their requirements. If you are looking for a first step to begin your computer audiophile journey or a small addition to your more traditional audio mega-system, I recommend the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2. Small, in the case of the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 is, indeed, beautiful. " - Steven Stone   Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital D/A headphone amplifier - Read More "The Pre Box S2's PCM and MQA options sound fantastic. I can think of no other mini-machine that does so much so well, with so wide an array of musical sounds and styles. Its DAC was competitive with that of my Tascam CD player; as a headphone amp, it's a small way into big listening—it sounded good with a variety of headphones. If you're a traveling man or a La-Z-Boy disc jockey, Pro-Ject's Pre Box S2 Digital demands an investigation. " - Ken Micallef   Review: Project Pre Box S2 Digital compact class - Read More "The Pre Box S2 Digital is without a doubt one of the best deals in hifi. You get a lot for a very modest amount. The headphone amplifier is fine and can even handle more demanding hifi headphones. Only real tough guys like Sennheiser's HD 800 are a bit too tough for the Pro-ject. Sonically, this little box also drops very few stitches. The sound is very open and detailed, with excellent timing. " - Jamie Biesemans   Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital Headphone Amp/DAC Review - Read More "The Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital offers a step up in performance with low- to medium-priced headphones, and it makes for an especially good match with those that have a treble emphasis. It also serves as an introduction to MQA. If it errs, it does so on the side of comfort and listenability. You’d have to spend a lot more to improve on Pro-Ject’s Pre Box S2. " - Mark Fleischmann   Test: Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital and Amp Box S3: how small can HiFi be? - Read More "It works! And much better than you would expect from these cute little devices. The Pro-Ject Pre Box Digital is a serious DAC and preamplifier for the most important digital sources, plus a headphone connection. And the Amp Box S3 stereo power amplifier is a no less impressive power amplifier in "nano format" with great sound capabilities for connection to a huge selection of passive speakers. If you are looking for an affordable and truly space-saving audio component solution, you can hardly ignore the Pro-Ject S2/S3 series. The combination options are huge, but you are spoiled for choice. The two test candidates are an ideal team for desktop hi-fi, to upgrade the media center in the living room, or as a second system in other rooms." - Frank Borowski     SPECIFICATIONS 3 digital inputs 1x coax (S/PDIF), 1x optical (TOSlink®), USB B D/A-converter 2x ESS9038Q2M 32-bit PCM 768kHz / DSD512 Headphone amplifier chip ESS9602 Sampling rates 32/44,1/48/88,2/96/176,2/192/352,8/384/768 kHz DSD support DSD64, DSD128, DSD256 and DSD512 MQA support  full MQA unfolding by hardware Filter settings 8 different selectable on front Frequency response 20Hz - 20kHz Analogue out 6.3mm Headphone Out (front), 1x Variable Out (RCA) Output voltage 2,05 Vef Headphone output power 68mW (32Ohms) THD 0,0003% Dynamic Range 124dBA Power consumption 5V, micro USB Dimensions 103 x 37 x 122 mm (including knob and connectors) Weight 366g without power supply
