Peroxide-based teeth whitening gel opens the pores of the teeth to lift stains. The peroxide activates when temperature increases, something that happens in a slow manner just from application in the mouth. The teeth whitening machine accelerates the rate that the peroxide activates - so users see a rapid shade improvement. People with healthy smiles may see a shade increase of 4 - 8 shades in just one sitting! Check out our complete Professional Chairside Tray Kit. The Whitening Store's line of teeth whitening lamps (also known in the industry as a teeth whitening machine) will whiten natural teeth with any whitening gel. While we encourage you to purchase The Whitening Store's teeth whitening gel, the technology does not differ from one company to the next.  How Often Can People Have Their Teeth Professionally Whitened? While pores are open, teeth can be sensitive and are susceptible to elevated exposure to any dark beverages or smoke or food colorings. To sustain a healthy, strong smile it's best to wait for at least 3 - 6 months between professional whitening treatments. Touchups at home with a lower strength gel is permitted but should be done in a cycle of up to 8 days then discontinued for the same reasons. How Does LED Teeth Whitening Work? LED teeth whitening uses blue light to speed up the chemical reactions that remove stains from teeth. The light accelerates the increase in temperature of a whitening gel that contains hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which breaks down faster and forms free radicals that whiten teeth. Does LED Teeth Whitening Hurt? No, teeth whitening treatments using a professional LED whitening machine will not hurt the patient. This lamp uses cool LED bulbs that do not emit any heat. As a reminder, teeth whitening should be performed on patients with healthy teeth and gums.
