Neptune Synthetic Squirrel Brushes - Aquarelle

Aquarelle brushes are designed with a long, slender profile and an extended belly that holds a generous amount of water and pigment. This shape allows for smooth, uninterrupted washes and gradual value shifts, making it ideal for flowing backgrounds, skies, and atmospheric effects. The Neptune Aquarelle’s soft synthetic fibers release color evenly, helping artists maintain consistent saturation across large areas without streaking. Princeton's Neptune line is their softest, most absorbent synthetic watercolor brush line, engineered to mimic the feel and performance of natural squirrel hair while offering enhanced durability and value. Designed specifically for watercolor and gouache, Neptune brushes hold an exceptional amount of water and pigment, releasing color smoothly and evenly to create vibrant, flowing washes and rich, luminous layers. Artists praise their supple bristles, fine points, and versatility across shapes like rounds, quills, oval washes, and mottlers, allowing for fluid transitions from expansive backgrounds to delicate details.
