A35.2 – power amplifier A35.2 is a powerful balanced input stereo amplifier, utilising our UFPD 2 amplficiation technology to deliver 200 watt of power per channel in stereo and 800 watts of power in bridged mono mode. OVERVIEW Technology A35.2 is the most powerful amplifier we have designed using our new proprietary UFPD 2 analog class D amplification technology. In fact, a completely new UFPD 2 power module was designed to provide the power and performance we felt necessary for such a statement stereo amplifier. As a result, a completely new power supply, with custom wound transformers, was designed to deliver the immense electrical power needed for the amplifier module to produce the immense amount of musical power of which it is capable. With that essential circuitry in place, A35.2 is capable of providing immediate and sustained high power output with very low distortion, instantaneous rise time and absolutely linear amplification across the entire bandwidth resulting in a naturally fast, clean and agile sound over an ultra-wide frequency range and with exceptional headroom. A35.2 features balanced inputs and 200 watts of output power into 8 ohms, with the ability to be bridged to mono for 800 watts of output into 8 ohms. With this level of truly massive power output, A35.2 is capable of driving even the most demanding stereo speakers, or for an awesomely powerful multi-channel system array. The look and feel of Scandinavia We believe that every aspect of our products – the way they look, the satisfying feel of the controls – contributes to the overall experience of living with Primare. As a result, Primare products exude the hallmarks of Scandinavian design – simple, elegant designs, with approachable and easy to understand functionality. An example of this is the standby button discretely placed within the Primare logo on the faceplate of our R15, R35 and A35.2 models – or as we say lagom, not too much not too little, everything in balance, proportion, and harmony. Modular Design and System Building We feel it is essential to offer modularity whenever possible in order to have just the right features, both now and for the future. Modular design is featured in the I25 and I35 integrated amplifiers, as well as the PRE35 preamplifier, all of which can be updated with DAC and Prisma modules, as well as the CD35 CD player that can have the Prisma module added, either at the time of purchase or at a later date. As a result, we are able to offer a carefully considered array of models and configurations in order to allow for device selection that best fits any system need. The A35.2 is the obvious partner for the PRE35 in its various configuration, and while not modular itself, it does allow for a number of configuration options to fit system needs, either as a single stereo amplifier, or as a pair for use in bi-amping or in bridged mono mode for 800 watts of pure power per channel. Oodles of proprietary power, a raft of features that’ll last well into the future and the ability to drive partnering gear at any price. And if you double up the power amps to mono mode, then things get even better.” View full review The Speaker Shack, October 2025, UK Primare A35.2 – Power Amplifier Product of the Year 2025 Winner “Two years ago, I reviewed the Primare A35.2 power amplifier, which earned a Highly Recommended award from The Speaker Shack. This year, I had the opportunity to hear the A35.2 amplifier, used as monoblocks to power the mighty Perlisten Audio S5t speakers. With the simple flick of a switch, the Primare can be configured for mono use, allowing for a considerable amount of power, specifically 500 watts. Using them in this configuration blew me away with their performance, quite literally, as the Perlisten speakers loved the power from the A35.2 amplifiers. This Class D giant earns our Product of the Year Award for Best Power Amplifier 2025.” View full review Diapason, October 2025, France PRE35 Prisma DM36 + A35.2 – PRE35 PRISMA DM36 & A35.2 If there are still detractors of digital and Class D, these two electronics could well shake up their convictions. To say that it’s breathable, spatial, linear, harmonically rich, explored down to the smallest signals, and, what’s more, capable of instantaneous dynamics in the most vivid transients, is a fairly modest summary of the situation. If we compare these (too) rarely found capabilities with the total budget required to acquire them, there’s enough to shake even the most reputable references to their foundations. Are you missing vinyl? The R35 phono stage is the perfect complement. More of a CD player? With the DD35 transport, “the resolution and depth of exploration of micro-information have taken a giant leap forward”. Do we like this 35 series from Primare? No need to draw you a picture. Extended listening to the preamp/amp pair fully confirms the feeling of musical competence and straightforwardness in the execution experienced so far when listening to the two aforementioned sources. In direct-to-DAC streamer mode, the preamp and amp form a pair that we don’t want to separate. Thus supported, the A35.2 is capable of both delicacy and dazzling bursts. Although the manufacturer says too little about the structure of its preamp, it proves to be of a transparency and rigor – in the sense of respect for the musical content – unheard of in this product range. I even noticed the small sound effects that I had never noticed before, but they were so detailed and obvious on this device. The Primare A35.2 amplifier is a device that allows you to listen to all the music again. The sound is elegant and natural, and the power contained is low-key but hard to ignore. Considering its price, it is really a two-channel amplifier worth buying.” View full review Andrew Robinson Reviews, US, May 2024 PRE35 Prisma DM36 + A35.2: Class D Done Right “I have really really enjoyed my time with the Primare PRE35 and A35.2 I have relied on them pretty heavily in evaluating many other products you’ve undoubtedly seen on this channel these past few months because they are just very very good at what they do. I believe the designers at Primare have understood their assignment and for the right listener these products will undoubtedly be just right, a minimalist high-fi dream come true.” View full review Pursuit Perfect System, UK, June 2024 PRE35 Prisma DM36 + A35.2: All new hifi should be like this? “In this video I am reviewing two HiFi Products from Swedish high end manufacturer Primare the Pre 35 Prisma which is a preamplifier with the Prisma streaming module and DM36 DAC module built in. That is being used with the matching Primare A 35.2 Stereo Power Amplifier. In the review I look at all four of these products individually and how they compare to other market alternatives at similar price points to see whether each adds real value for money, but either way this is very nice HiFi to live with and listen to. However I feel the modular aspect of the PRE35 is what makes it stand out because it doesn’t force the owner into buying features they don’t want or need.” View full review Audiograde, UK, June 2025 PRE35 Prisma DM36 + A35.2: Primare PRE35 Prisma and A35.2 amplifiers review In Summary: As flagship pre/power combinations go these take some beating at their price (and considerably more). Primare’s always had a knack for making hifi seem refreshing simple, because its approach is well thought out, and the PRE35 and A35.2 amps epitomise this. Ladened with sensible features and optional upgrades, ease of use and above all, a sonic quality that is hi-end yet so easy to live with, thanks to effortless dynamics and sheer musicality, this is a system that’s worth a serious demo. Both devices are made with care and look timeless and sleek in our opinion. They also remain relevant and only get new technology if it offers added value. In terms of sound, we have heard few shortcomings. These are products for the long term that reproduce music in a captivating way. The price is certainly fair for what you get. Both recommended!” View full review FWD, Benelux, March 2025 PRE35 + CD35 + A35.2: Primare – Striking hifi in Scandinavian design “Beautiful and timeless designs that you will enjoy looking at for years. Beautiful and high-quality sound reproduction, which you can enjoy for years to come. Everything is solidly built. If you study the entire delivery program of Primare, you will be amazed. A multichannel amplifier? A home cinema processor? eARC and Dirac DSP options? Dolby Atmos and DTS X? The Swedes also deliver all of that. You don’t have to shop around any further. Highly recommended, and given the high sound quality and finish, I find the Primares very competitively priced.” View full review Stereophile, USA, March 2024 A35.2 – Stereophile Recommended Component “Class A (solid state) – This hefty Danish amplifier uses what Primare calls their “proprietary UFPD2 analogue class-D amplification technology” to deliver 200Wpc into 8 ohms. According to the manufacturer, UFPD2 integrates the class-D output stage and the necessary low-pass filter, “making control with feedback much more immediate and accurate.” HR found that with his Magnepan .7 speakers, the A35.2 sounded very similar to the slightly more expensive Bel Canto Ref600M class-D monoblocks. He wrote that the A35.2 “gripped the Magnepans’ diaphragms with greater control and force than either the class-A Pass Labs XA25 ($4900) or the $3495 all-tube, class-AB Rogue Stereo 100 (in Ultralinear mode). This control delivered a tauter, more rhythmic bass.” With Harbeth M30.2 speakers, HR found that the Primare’s high frequencies were “crisp and super-clear—but not luxuriant and engaging.” On the test bench, the Primare exceeded its specified powers, clipping at 225Wpc into 8 ohms and at 460Wpc into 4 ohms.” View full review The Speaker Shack, UK, September 2023 A35.2: Primare A35.2 Power Amplifier Review “Musically the Primare A35.2 Power Amplifier is a formidable performer and copes well with all types of music, from the subtle nuances in Jazz to full on rock with hard hitting power and conviction, tested with the Perlisten Audio R7t speakers and now with my ProAc D2Rs it does not have to be in an all Primare system to show how well it can perform although I can imagine with its partnering PRE35 connected via the balanced inputs its performance and synergy will elevate its performance even further, factor in the sleek proportions and stylish looks and cool running it’s hard not to like the A35.2 amplifier, with a clear upgrade path to bridge the A35.2 and use two of these in mono configuration you end up with some serious hardware to power any speaker system should you choose, considering the price it really is quite the bargain.
