Savage K9 Primal Pelts are a pure, freeze-dried rabbit pelt designed to complement a prey model raw diet by offering natural fiber, species-appropriate enrichment, and essential nutrients. Why Feed Rabbit Pelts? Fur plays a crucial role in a wild canine’s diet, aiding digestion, acting as a natural source of fiber, and supporting gut health. Studies suggest that consuming animal fur can help regulate the digestive tract by providing roughage, much like the bones, cartilage, and connective tissues in whole prey. This aligns with the prey model raw (PMR) diet, which mimics what dogs are biologically designed to eat—muscle meat, organs, bones, and fur. 🔬 The Science of Prey Model Raw Feeding Gut Health & Detoxification: Fur acts as a natural fiber source, helping move food through the digestive tract and aiding in the elimination of waste and toxins. Dental Benefits: Chewing on fur-covered pelts provides natural dental abrasion, reducing plaque and tartar buildup for healthier teeth and gums. Nutrient Absorption: Raw-fed dogs thrive on bioavailable nutrients found in whole prey, with fur helping to slow digestion for better nutrient absorption. How to Feed Primal Pelts Simply offer a Primal Pelt as a chew or mix it into a balanced raw diet such as Savage K9 Ancestral Grinds, including our whole rabbit grind.
