I-40 Primal Scream Therapy, by Harold Whit Williams

Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features. Informed by such disparate experiences as low-budget rock band touring, quiet suburban homelife drudgery, and bleak meditations on aging and nothingness, the poems of I-40 Primal Scream Therapy seek commonalities within them all regardless. Daydream dementia, chicken scratch upon the cave walls of the ego, and an unseen road we all travel. Indeed. Part confessional chap, part self-help dream journal, part southern gothic howling at the moon, this latest micro-collection from acclaimed poet and power pop guitar hero Harold Whit Williams crackles with AM radio static, and hums along with the dark highway's drone. Harold Whit Williams is a prize-winning poet and longtime guitarist for the indie rock band Cotton Mather. He is the author of seven books of poetry and one book of short stories. He is also the recipient of the 2020 FutureCycle Poetry Book Prize, the 2014 Mississippi Review Poetry Prize, the Robert Phillips Poetry Chapbook Prize, as well as multiple Pushcart Prize nominations. Williams lives in Austin, Texas, where he supervises the Music & Multimedia Resources at UT Libraries, all the while writing, recording, and performing his solo music under the moniker Daily Worker.
