This "Labor of Love" multi-strain formula builds up your beneficial microflora with live active cultures to balance your gut’s bacteria — healthy for you and your baby. The seven probiotic strains include:   Lactobacillus plantarum Bifidobacterium bifidum Bifidobacterium infantis Lactobacillus reuteri Lactobacillus rhamnosus Lactobacillus acidophilus Lactobacillus fermentum Why is B. infantis so important for mom and baby? One way B. infantis can be passed into the body of a baby is via mom’s breast milk. This strain is the most abundant strain found in the tummies of breastfed babies. While breastfeeding, an infant usually receives between 10 to 100 million bacterial strains every single day. These varied bacterial strains play an important role in creating a diverse gut microbiome, which is also where the immune system begins. B. infantis is so important for infants because it is the only strain that is equipped to fully break down and use all the sugars that are present in breast milk. As B. infantis digests Human Milk Oligosaccharides (H.M.O.s) in mom’s breast milk, it releases short-chain fatty acids, which feed an infant’s gut cells. B. infantis then produces anti-inflammatory molecules that activate the immune system. From the very first time a child is breastfed, this bacterial strain begins to aid the processes of digestion and nutrient absorption. This is why B. infantis is recognized as a breast milk superstrain probiotic!
