Precious Peacock Ornament Crafted by Afghan refugees living in Pakistan This vibrantly embroidered peacock is a homage to one of nature's most splendid creatures. Peacocks, often associated with strength and divinity, live in the wild in Pakistan. Made in partnership with Artisan Links About the craftsmanship Afghan artisans are skilled in a range of embroidery techniques, handed on through generations. The style used on the peacock is Pukhtadozi.  ‘Pukhta’ means strong and ‘dozi’ means embroidery – the technique originated in Uzbekistan, until Nomadic Uzbeks took the tradition to neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan.
