More About Pre-Prohibition Lager (BJCP Style 27A): Pre-Prohibition Lager is a historical American beer style, popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s, that fell into obscurity after Prohibition. Originally brewed by immigrant German brewers adapting traditional lager recipes to local ingredients, this style is known for its distinctive grainy malt profile, prominent use of corn adjuncts, and assertive hop bitterness. Modern recreations aim to reflect the beer's original character: flavorful, robust, and distinctly American.
