[Pre-Order] WalthersProto 920-17805 | Pullman-Standard Troop Sleeper Car - Lighted - Ready to Run - Denver & Rio Grande Western #AX2069 | HO Scale

During the Second World War the railroads had to move millions of servicemen, and there were nowhere near enough passenger cars to do it. The answer was the troop car: a boxcar underframe with a body built for people, turned out in the thousands by Pullman-Standard and ACF. After the war they were sold off and spent decades in maintenance-of-way and express service, which is why they still turn up on layouts set well past 1945.
