Praline Bench - Ø178

The Woud Praline Bench takes its cue from those little filled chocolates you can't resist - which explains why this thing has such an appealing, rounded silhouette that makes you want to sink right into it. At 178cm long, it's got serious seating real estate that works whether you're hosting a dinner party and need extra places to sit or just want something substantial enough to anchor a large living room. The Brussels-based design duo Beaverhausen (Mimy A. Diar and Ad Luijten) brought their art direction backgrounds into this piece, and you can see it in how thoughtfully the proportions work - it's soft and inviting without looking like a giant marshmallow. The precision stitching details give it this tailored quality that elevates it beyond basic upholstered furniture. What's clever about the design is how it pulls double duty as both comfortable seating and a practical surface when you need it. The top stays flat enough to hold trays, books, or whatever you need to set down temporarily, but there's enough cushioning that people actually want to sit on it for extended periods. The FSC-certified plywood structure with foam padding and elastic straps means it's built to handle daily use without developing that saggy, tired look that cheaper upholstered pieces get after a few months. Being made to order in your choice of fabric means you can dial in exactly the right texture and color for your space rather than settling for whatever's available in stock. Woud keeps pushing this approach where Scandinavian design principles meet contemporary living needs, and their collaboration with international design studios like Beaverhausen shows they're not interested in just repeating traditional Nordic forms. The brand understands that the best furniture enhances how people actually use their spaces rather than requiring them to adapt their habits to accommodate precious design objects. Their focus on honest materials and thoughtful construction means creating pieces that become more valuable over time, improving with age rather than just wearing out.
