In team roping, the header and heeler use their ropes for different catches. 30 ft Head Rope: Designed for the header, who catches the steer's horns. The weighted tip helps guide the loop toward the target, while the rope body helps keep the loop open from delivery to target for controlled and accurate catches. 35 ft Heel Rope: Designed for the heeler, who catches the steer's hind feet. The bottom-strand weight helps bring the loop down in front of the steer's feet, while the rope body helps maintain an open loop above the weighted bottom strand. Choose Your Size/Lay Powerline4 Lite ropes are available in different sizes/lays, which affect how soft or firm the rope feels and how it handles during the swing and delivery. Softer sizes/lays generally provide an easier, more flexible feel, while firmer sizes/lays provide more stiffness and body. Choose the option that matches your experience, roping style and preferred feel. Softer sizes/lays: Easier to handle and swing for ropers who prefer a softer feel. Medium-soft sizes/lays: Provide a balance of softness, body and control. Firmer sizes/lays: Provide more stiffness and body and may require more skill or power during delivery. Quick guide: First, choose the 30 ft head rope for heading or the 35 ft heel rope for heeling. Then select the available size/lay based on the softness and feel you prefer.
