The DeWalt shadow light has enough current draw to activate the GS10 and GS11 soft start sequence, causing the soft starter to be at full power when you start your saw motor. This power cord is designed to plug directly into the shadow light module and power it independently of the saw motor, thus eliminating the shadow light current draw through the soft starter.
