Positive Deviance Zine

Solutions don’t have to come from experts or institutions. They can come from us, regular people who simply… do things differently and create the future we want to see. Positive Deviance is a 16-page zine exploring the simple but radical idea that within every community, there are individuals solving problems in unexpected ways using the exact same resources as everyone else. This zine prompts us to ask: What’s already working, and who’s doing it differently? Inside, you’ll find: The origins of Positive Deviance A reframe of “deviance” as a force for change, not something to fear Stories of thinkers, educators, scientists, and artists who reshaped the world  A pattern that stretches across history, from Hypatia and Confucius to Montessori, Freire, Sagan, and beyond  A “Field Notes” section to help you spot and practice Positive Deviance in your own life This little zine is not necessarily a manual, but an invitation to consider a shift in perspective. “It’s easier to act your way into a new way of thinking…” — Jerry Sternin.
