Fill out this form and one of our Building Professionals will get back to you and walk you through your project. Alternatively, you can call 866-706-0589 Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm CST. Who can build this pergola? Any 2 non-disabled persons can build this DIY pergola kit. You will need to be able to bend and lift weights up to 75 lbs together. You will also need to climb a ladder and/or be on your knees for parts of this build out. Do I have to have concrete to build this? Can I build it without? We highly recommend that the wood doesn’t come in contact with the ground. Unless your lumber is ACQ4A or higher pressure treated lumber. If your lumber is ACQ4A or better, you still only have about a 10 year lifespan on that wood. We want your pergola to last, not rot away in a few years. A concrete pad or concrete piers are the best way to ensure that your pergola lasts for as long as possible.
