Poppy seeds have been around for at least 3000 years. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used these seeds for many purposes, mostly medicinal. Found in the flower, poppy seeds are bluish-black, tiny seeds, with a sweet nutty flavor. Poppy seeds are commonly used in baking breads and to add some extra crunch to noodles and salads.
