Popcorn Drift® Groundcover Rose

Imagine eating buttery popcorn filled to the brim with shades of creamy white and yellow. Then you can easily imagine the Popcorn Drift® Groundcover Rose (Rosa 'Novarospop'), except this Rose lacks the buttery, delicious flavor (and the deer agree)! This beautiful, elegant Rose blooms gold in the spring, then slowly transitions to a mix of soft yellows and whites. The full-sized blooms possess a 15-25 petal count, are relatively tight and emit a slight, gentle fragrance. The fragrance is most noticeable during the mid-season. Blooming continuously from early spring till the first frost, which creates the perfect white and yellow flowers to admire for months at a time. Not only do these flowers stand out on their own, but the dark green foliage emerges in early spring and creates a whimsical background for the pop of colors. At the beginning of the foliage's life, it starts off as a slightly reddish tint, then matures to glossy, deep green. One of the best features the Popcorn Drift® Rose has to offer is an upright, low-growing, yet gentle spread similar to miniature Roses. The Popcorn Drift® Groundcover Rose thrives in growing zones 5-11 and can be the perfect addition to your landscape. With its upright form, the elegant rose is the perfect plant for foundation planting. The best part of the foliage is not its charming color or fullness, it's that Groundcover Roses are tough, pest and disease-resistant, and have great heat and humidity hardiness! Thriving throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 11, Drift® Roses perform beautifully all across the country! Planting and Application: The Popcorn Drift® Rose is a Groundcover Rose, hugging the ground with its consistent blooms that are reminiscent of buttery popcorn. This makes it the perfect flower for your garden! The Popcorn Drift® Groundcover Rose is flawless in a cottage garden or when it is used as a low hedge and walkway addition! Along with that, you can plant the Popcorn Drift® Rose to create edging and borders for your garden pathway. The gorgeous colors will shine and glow in the sunlight. The best soil for the sun-basking Rose is moist and well-drained. Water is great for the Popcorn Drift® so provide regular moisture for the first year while it's getting established. After, these Roses don't need too much supplemental moisture unless there is drought. Site selection is important for Roses, and we always recommend Nature Hills Root Booster when planting to get your Roses off to the best start. The Popcorn Rose will grow best in mildly acidic to neutral soil around 6.0 to 7.0 on the pH scale. Fertilize in the spring with a slow-release fertilizer. This ensures an extensive root system will provide superb exposure to nutrients and water in the soil. Cover the soil over this root system with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch to hold in moisture and keep the roots insulated. Pruning is definitely not required for the Popcorn Drift® Rose, but it does respond well to it. It can be pruned hard in late winter or early spring to ensure the plant will have healthy blooms throughout the season. When you first plant your Drift® Rose, cut back the entire plant evenly to increase the number of lateral branches and encourage a denser plant.
