Poolife™ Alkalinity Plus, 25 lb Pail

Poolife™ Alkalinity Plus is a high-purity sodium bicarbonate formula that raises total alkalinity in swimming pool water. It helps keep pH stable, prevent cloudy water, support swimmer comfort, reduce pH “bounce,” and help other pool treatments work more effectively. Stabilize pool pH and keep water balanced with ease Increases total alkalinity: Helps stabilize pool water pH for lasting balance. High-purity sodium bicarbonate: Delivers safe, effective results when used as directed. Essential for water balance: Helps reduce the risk of cloudy water and scaling. Compatible with all pool types: Safe for plaster, vinyl, fiberglass, and other common pool finishes. Easy dosing: Includes a convenient chart for accurate application. How to use Poolife™ Alkalinity PlusApplication instructions Test pool water using Poolife™ test strips or a test kit to determine the current total alkalinity. Use the dosage chart on the label to calculate the amount needed. With the pump running, broadcast the product evenly across the surface of the pool. Allow 6–8 hours of circulation before retesting. Dosage guidelines Add according to the label chart based on pool volume and current total alkalinity. Ideal total alkalinity range: 60–120 ppm. Always adjust total alkalinity before adjusting pH. Frequently asked questionsWhy is total alkalinity important?Alkalinity acts as a buffer that helps stabilize pH. Low alkalinity can cause pH to fluctuate rapidly, potentially leading to eye irritation, scaling, and corrosion. How often should I test and adjust alkalinity?Test at least once a week during swim season and after heavy rainfall, refilling, or other chemical adjustments. Can I use this with a saltwater system?Yes. Poolife™ Alkalinity Plus is compatible with saltwater, chlorine, and bromine sanitizing systems. Do I adjust alkalinity before pH?Yes. Adjust total alkalinity first because it directly affects pH stability. What causes low alkalinity?Heavy rain, splash-out, backwashing, and acidic chemicals such as pH decreasers or some chlorine shocks can lower total alkalinity. Regular testing helps catch low levels before they create water-balance problems. Can I swim after adding Poolife™ Alkalinity Plus?Allow 6–8 hours of circulation after application before swimming to support even distribution and effectiveness. Always follow the product label. What happens if I add too much alkalinity increaser?Overcorrecting can make pH difficult to adjust and may contribute to scale or cloudy water. Follow the dosage chart and retest before adding more. Will this affect chlorine or sanitizer levels? No. Sodium bicarbonate does not interfere with chlorine, bromine, or salt systems. Balanced alkalinity can help sanitizers perform more consistently. Benefits of maintaining proper total alkalinityHealth and comfort Helps prevent pH swings that may cause eye and skin irritation. Supports a more comfortable swimming environment. Water quality Helps prevent scale, cloudiness, and etching. Keeps pool water clear and balanced. Equipment protection Helps reduce corrosion of heaters, ladders, and plumbing. Supports longer life for pool surfaces and fixtures.
