Pony Express With Wings Lyons Studios Limited Edition Aviation Print

Long before electronic messaging and mobile phones dominated the communications landscape, Americans corresponded via written messages delivered by the United States Postal Service (USPS). With Pony Express With Wings, world-renowned aviation artist Sam Lyons honors that era of US history when airplanes were used to transport post across the nation. The 10" x 17½" illustration depicts a pair of Curtiss Jenny JN-1 biplanes that were used in airmail service between Washington, DC and New York City circa 1918. While the image's alluring color is sure to grasp anyone's attention, antique aircraft enthusiasts will marvel at Lyons' magnificent rendering of the classic taildraggers. Everything from the interplane struts to the shape of the vertical stabilizer is 100% true to the genuine article. Additionally, Lyons' superb dedication to the level of detail in the background imagery further reinforces his standing as one of the most skilled aviation artists on the planet. This picture is available as both an Artist Proof (limited to 30) and a signed & numbered Limited Edition print (limited to 300). Both versions are printed on acid-free paper, utilize first-rate permanent inks, and include a Certificate of Authenticity. An immaculate retrospective of a bygone aviation era that no amount of electrons could ever do justice.
